I will assume that if you are reading this than you already have a guitar. This rock guitar lesson is intended for people who are just learning the basics to playing the guitar. I am going to tell you the four most basic aspects of the guitar. If your look at your guitar you will see that it has strings.The next step is tuning the strings. The Last two steps are tabs and scales.

The first step is learning the strings. If you are looking down at your guitar now the top string which has the lowest pitch is the e string. The next four strings are A,D,G,B,E. The top and the bottom strings are e because it is different octanes. The top e is a lower pitch octane while the bottom is a higher pitch octane.

The next step is learning how to tune your guitar. Tuning a guitar is one of the most difficult beginners steps. I would suggest buying an electric tuner or finding a way to tune your guitar by ear is the best way.

The third step is learning how to play tabluture (tabs). Guitar tabs is a quick way to learning most of your favorite riffs. The ones you want to focus on are usually bands that inspire you. There are many different types of music that use the guitar as an instrument, so the bands that inspire you is different for everyone else.

The last step to this quick and easy rock guitar lesson is learning scales. Scales are the different types of melodies that can be acquired from the guitar whether it is acoustic or electric. For example there is the blues scale the pentatonic scale and hundreds more that i frankly don’t have the time to type out. Guitar scales are something you want to look into if you are interest in learning to make up your own music. This is your first easy rock guitar lesson, and you can play this on an electric guitar, or an acoustic guitar.

I’m going to assume you’ve got six strings on your guitar, and they are at least close to being in tune. The reality is, however, that you will only really need three strings to pull this off!

Let’s learn our first rock guitar chord. It’s an E5, and it’s played like this:

That’s it. Just two notes. Take your first finger, and put it on the 2nd fret of the 5th (A) string – and play that note along with the open 6th (E) string. Easy!

Now here’s the second chord. It’s an A5, and it’s played like this:

The A5 is formed exactly like the E5 in the previous example, only it is played on the 4th and 5th (D & A) strings, instead of the 5th and 6th.

The third and final chord is the B7, and it’s played like this:

Play this by placing your first finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th (A) string – and your third finger on the 4th fret of the 4th (D) string.

In all the examples, only play the two notes that are indicated, don’t play the other strings.

Now you know three basic rock chords on the guitar. You can put them together to play a standard rock or blues chord progression by playing them in the order you learned them – or in various combinations.
